I'm planning for a trip in Jan or Feb 09. I have read in a few places, however, that some rides may be closed down for refurbishment in January. Is this true? Also, is it really cold during this time? Are all resort pools and water parks open?

We have been traveling to WDW in January for nearly 20 years. I can tell you that on most vacations there is at least one major ride down for rehab. Although, I have not seen any announcements yet for this upcoming winter season. And in fact, on our recent June trip, we were sad to miss our favorite ride, Pirates of the Caribbean due to refurbishment. So, renovations can take place any time of the year.

It can be really cold. Usually we are in jeans and sweatshirts and often jackets in the mornings and evenings. One trip, I remember feeling very happy to find gloves tucked in the pocket of my coat. However, we've also had many vacations where it was pleasantly warm and a few times even hot. A good source is www.wunderground.com where you can look up the historical weather data for the Orlando, FL area.

Resort pools are open unless undergoing refurbishment. A few years ago, the All Star Movies pool was closed during our visit. Usually one water park is closed for refurbishment, while the other remains open.
