I'm planning a trip for my father in law and mother in law. They are between 50-60 yrs old. My father in law would like a hotel in the animal kingdom, without a lot of kids (I know, this is Disney). What would be your top 5 recommendations?

    Hi Mari!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip.  As you can guess, every Disney resort will have children among its guests at any time of year.  While there is no resort inside the Animal Kingdom, there are several  that are considered "Animal Kingdom Area" resorts.  These are the deluxe, Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is a sophisticated luxury property which offers visitors the opportunity to chose rooms that overlook a savanna filled with African animals and several outstanding restaurants, and Coronado Springs Resort in the Moderate Category. I n addition, the All Star Music resort in the Value Category is nearby as well.

In my experience, given the current economic climate, many families are looking for affordable ways to make their Disney Dreams come true.  Many of the people I speak with are considering Moderate or Value Resorts and combining these with some of the unprecedented specials and promotions Disney is currently offering, including the "Buy Four/Get Three Free" deal available on many nights through August 15th.

If your in-laws wanted an upscale, sophisticated property, I would suggest, any of the Deluxe Properties, including:
    • Animal Kingdom Lodge
    • The Grand Floridian
    • Wilderness Lodge
    • Polynesian Resort
    • Contemporary Resort

Again, each of these will have children among its guests, but, I think your in-laws would enjoy the outstanding amenities and dining options.  Another possibility, would be to consider staying off-site at one of the major convention center or business hotels.  Orlando is a major destination for business travellers, and many of it's hotels cater to adult business travelers.  The JW Marriott & Ritz Carlton share a lovely location outside of Disney Property that often caters to business travellers.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful trip.
