Hi! I’m planning a trip to Disneyland and was wondering if September is a good time to visit. Is it usually less crowded, or are there still large crowds? Thanks!

Hi Valentina! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.

Everyone has a favorite time to visit the parks, and I think September is a great time! First, you're visiting during Halloweentime at the Disneyland Resort, which is a can't-miss season. You'll experience seasonal overlays on some of your favorite Attractions, themed food and beverage selections, Characters dressed in costumes, seasonal entertainment, and decor.

My favorite part of the season is the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park, which is set to make its spooky return this year with that loveable Jack Skellington as host. It always tops my list, but you also should follow the Disney Eats blog, which is the official food and beverage news source for the parks. They've got the information you crave about upcoming tasty treats for the season, so you can plan how you want to devour the parks while you're exploring. A lot of the choices are picture-worthy!

The weather is also beautiful in September. Possibly some of the best weather all year! It tends to be sunny with clear skies, warm, and rain is rare. You can't beat it, which makes it even more pleasant to explore all the fun of the season.

As for attendance, it's hard to predict from one year to the next, but school is back in session in September, which makes weekdays a little less popular than during the summer months. If you're really concerned about getting everything you want accomplished during a park day, I'd suggest adding Lightning Lane Multi Pass to your admission tickets. You can add this great option while making your ticket purchase or after scanning into the parks for the day, using the Disneyland mobile app, subject to availability. My family always takes advantage of this add-on because we enjoy spending less time in queues, while focusing on the magic of the parks and each other's company.

Did you know that currently, Disney PhotoPass downloads are complimentary with the purchase of Lightning Lane Passes? That's a great value! And those downloads are always my favorite souvenir from our trips. They capture a moment in time, while getting everyone in the picture, which I can appreciate as the photographer in my family. Some of the best ones are framed in our home, and I can look back at my boys' little smiles, sometimes gap-toothed, depending on the era. They're priceless!

    Boo to you!
