Hiya Steve,
Welcome to planDisney! As the daughter of veterans, I am honored to be a part of your planning journey. Even now, family vacations are as incredibly important to me as they were when I was a child. I have fond memories of spending time with my family at the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I hope you and your family do as well.
As a veteran with 60% disabled status, you qualify for a type of ticket called
Magic Your Way. These discounted tickets are available to you as a military veteran, and you can purchase them for yourself and your entire family through
Shades of Green or your local base's ITT office! These tickets do require that you make
theme park reservations, but there is no limit on how many you can purchase, and they are activated at the time of purchase, saving you time at Guest Relations at entry.
Another way to save money during your trip is to stay at Shades of Green Resort. Shades of Green is an AFRC resort located near the Magic Kingdom Resorts (which is a fantastic location). Here's a fun fact: They have the largest standard rooms at Walt Disney World Resort. Families who stay here can take advantage of
Early Theme Park Entry and
Extended Evening Hours (available on select dates), which are great perks to get the most out of your theme park days. Another great perk is that Shades of Green offers complimentary bus transportation to and from the theme parks and Disney Springs. You can book up to three rooms under your name, which means both of your adult children could also have their own room!
I hope this was helpful, Steve. Before I let you go, during your visit, I recommend setting aside some time in your itinerary to check out one of my favorite experiences at Walt Disney World Resort, the
Flag Retreat. Each day at Magic Kingdom, veterans are honored for their service and dedication to this country as the flag is retired each day. This stunning tribute doesn't take long, but it is definitely memorable. Please come back and see me if you have any additional questions.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
