I'm planning a trip to Disney as a surprise for my 3 boys and want to know if we should go at Christmas or March Break? How busy is it at each of those times and is there a benefit to going during any one of those times? Thanks

Hi Vicki!  Wow - I bet those are going to be 3 THRILLED young men!  What a great surprise - a trip to Walt Disney World!

I am going to provide answers to your questions based upon my own personal experiences.  Please realize that someone else may give you a completely different response.  I will just provide some advice and observations that might help you make the best decision for your family.

First of all, both times you mentioned going, Christmas & March (Spring) Break, are extremely busy, extremely high-capacity-crowds times during the year.  However, if those are the only times you can go, don't let that news stop you!  It is very possible to manage the crowds during those times, and get to see and do most of the things you want to see and do at Walt Disney World anyway, with a little planning!

As for choosing which time would be best, well that is just a matter of choice.

Here's what I like about going in December:  nice, cool temperatures; gorgeous Christmas decorations; exciting shows and holiday festivities, such as Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom, the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT's Candlelight Processional.

Here's what I like about going in March:  gorgeous flowers & topiaries as the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Show opens, providing tremendous photo opportunities; and temperatures are usually warm enough for swimming anytime, so you can plan for some great days at the Disney Water Parks and Resort pools!

No matter what you choose, I hope you and the boys have an incredible time at Walt Disney World!  Remember, the WDW Moms Panel is here to help you with your planning all along the way!
