I'm planning a trip to Disney in October 2016. Our party will consist of 4 adults and 5 children: ranging from ages 1-12. Any tips for a large group? Is staying at a Disney Resort reasonable for such a large group?

    Hi Samantha,

I've traveled with large groups to Walt Disney World several times and I think it's one of the most fun ways to experience the World! We took an incredible trip several years ago with my side of our family, eight adults and ten children. We had a fantastic trip but I did learn a few things.

It does take a little bit longer for meals, especially table service meals with a larger group. The time is well worth it for the experience with your group.

Be prepared to split up occasionally. Your group may want to experience different attractions, or you may have some members who want to sleep in or need to go to bed early. Paying attention to the changing needs of the group can make all the difference.

We chose to stay at a Walt Disney World resort with our large group for the ease of getting around. We stayed at one of the Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, Disney Beach Club Villas. The two bedroom villas sleep up to nine people. We loved the convenience of being on property and having a kitchen for a few quick meals was convenient.

This web page on Rooms for 5 or More has some more detailed advice on the variety of rooms available for larger groups. I do have friends who have stayed off site in a vacation home, but we still prefer the convenience and benefits of staying on site.

I hope I've given you a starting point! As you plan your vacation, be sure to let us know when you have any other questions!
    Wishing you a magical vacation,
