I’m planning a trip to celebrate my daughter’s 6th birthday in November, and I have a couple of questions\. First, will we need passports for the trip? Also, how can I add a reservation for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to our existing reservation?

    Hello, Mileyrie! Welcome to planDisney!

What an exciting birthday trip you’re planning for your daughter! She’ll never forget celebrating her sixth birthday on board Captain Mickey’s ship; I can promise you that! I know this because the birthday celebrations my daughter still talks about today as a tween (the years really do fly by, Mileyrie!) are the ones we’ve celebrated on board Disney Cruise Line. I would love to answer your questions and help you continue to plan the perfect birthday cruise!

Since I’m not sure which itinerary you’re sailing on without an arrival date, it’s difficult to say if you will need a passport for certain. But I can share this to help: if you’re sailing to The Bahamas or the Caribbean and the cruise sails round-trip to and from a port in the United States, as a United States citizen, you can either travel with a passport OR a state-issued birth certificate and a government-issued physical photo ID. I highly advise you to read about the required citizenship documentation for each itinerary in the Passports, Visa, and Citizenship Documentation section.

However, both Disney Cruise Line and I, in my magical expertise, always recommend traveling with a passport if you're able to. This is because a passport is the required documentation in case of an emergency, should there be a need to fly you to a foreign country for a medical evacuation, etc.

As for making that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation, it’s easy! You can make the reservation once your booking window opens in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App or the Disney Cruise Line website. You’ll log in to your reservation and open up “My Plans”. From there, navigate to the day you would like to make the reservation, then “Onboard Fun” and then “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique”. Choose a reservation time, and you’re all set! If you don’t see the reservation that you would like, you can also check at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique once you’re on board your cruise. I highly recommend making the reservation as soon as your booking window opens, as it’s a super popular activity. Once at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, let them know that it’s her birthday, and she’ll receive a special “Birthday Princess” sash!

Finally, I want to let you know about some other special ways that you can celebrate her birthday on board. From Onboard Gifts, you can order her a special celebration cake and have your stateroom decorated! You should also let Disney Cruise Line know that you’re celebrating her birthday in the “Special Requests” section of your reservation, and a complimentary birthday treat will be delivered to her during dinner!

Mileyrie, I hope I was able to clarify the required citizenship documentation and making that exciting Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation. I wish you and your daughter the most amazing memories together, and a very happy sixth birthday to her! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
