"Welcome home," David and thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!
David, as a Disney Vacation Club Member who loves to dream about my travel plans years in advance I appreciate this question. The
ability to bank and borrow points to create truly customized vacations is one of my favorite attributes of Disney Vacation Club and I don't mind sharing that these conversations about borrowing restrictions are also happening at my house!
David, at the most recent (December 2020) Disney Vacation Club Annual Condominium Associations Meeting, it was announced that for the time being, the 50% borrowing restriction will continue. Unfortunately no additional information has been released, but I'm hopeful that in the coming months we will be given an update. In the meantime, I understand this impacts travel plans (as it does my own as well). While my Fairy Godmother powers don't extend to point usage, I do have two ideas that may help.
First, David, did you know you're able to purchase up to 24 additional Vacation Points each Use Year? If in your quest to book two Deluxe Studios at
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, you need less than 25 points to make your dream a reality, this may be a viable option. You can read more about buying One-Time-Use points
HERE.
David, another option would be to use your vacation points for one room and pay cash for the other. While I cannot guarantee this, often Disney Vacation Club Members are able to book rooms at a discounted rate. For example, this summer I'll be staying at Disney's Riviera Resort and my mother will be traveling with my family, but wanted a separate room. I called into Member Services and booked a tower studio for her at a discounted rate. To further investigate this option, you'll need to
speak to Member Services and ask what might be available for the dates you wish to travel. When I called, discounts were offered at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and
Disney's Riviera Resort, however the Cast Member let me know that as inventory is constantly changing, so are the offers and resorts eligible for discounted rates.
David, I'll be wishing on a star for you that information is soon released about the current borrowing restriction and that you're able to create the holiday of your dreams. If you have any additional questions, please come on back to planDisney where we love to help guests create their own Magic.
