Howdy, partner! I’m so happy you came here to planDisney with your question. So, hold on to them hats and glasses, ’cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!
While I loved writing my thesis on mathematical problem solving, yours sounds like
a lot more fun! And what a time to be riding
Big Thunder Mountain as it is getting ready to open sometime in 2026 after a lengthy refurbishment! This has always been one of my favorite attractions, and it sounds like it is going to come back better than ever. I personally cannot wait to see the Rainbow Caverns with their phosphorescent pools and beautiful stalagmites and stalactites that were previewed over on
Disney Parks Blog!
The policy regarding filming on rides can vary from attraction to attraction, and
property rules are subject to change. Most importantly, it is always up to the discretion of the Cast Members monitoring the ride and ensuring safety. Sometimes, when you go to an attraction, you’ll notice specific signage that you cannot have cameras or phones loose, as is currently the case with
Space Mountain. When you are approaching Big Thunder Mountain Railroad when it opens at some point this year, be on the lookout for such signage, and when in doubt, check with the friendly Cast Members at the attraction. It's also important to note that selfie sticks and hand-held extension poles for mobile devices and cameras are currently prohibited.
Emily, make sure you stay tuned for updates on the
Disney Parks Blog for more exciting details on this newly reimagined attraction. Soon, the wild, wild west will be yours to conquer!
Best wishes on your research,
Matt
