Hi I'm planning on taking my grandson for his 5th birthday on October 13 does he need a covid test?

    Greetings Martha!

Welcome to planDisney! We’re so glad you stopped by with a question!

When the Disneyland Resort reopened, a recommendation was made that unvaccinated Guests obtain a negative Covid test prior to their visit. However, there is no requirement for individuals of any age to obtain a negative Covid test in order to enter the theme parks. However, all Guests age 2 and above are required to wear a facial covering indoors unless actively eating or drinking. This requirement includes when traveling on the bus transportation to and from the Toy Story Parking Area. Facial coverings are optional in outdoor areas.

Celebrating your grandson’s 5th birthday with a trip to the Disneyland Resort is such a wonderful idea! Celebrating special occasions at Disneyland is my favorite because everyone is celebrating with you! Here are a few suggestions to make his birthday extra special! First, stop by Guest Relations where you can request a complimentary birthday button for your grandson! Your grandson is not the only one who needs a button, ask for an “I’m Celebrating” button for yourself! Cast Members love to acknowledge special occasions and the buttons let them know that you’re celebrating!

How about celebrating with a special meal?! Character Dining is perfect for a birthday celebration. Choose “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park,” at Plaza Inn inside Disneyland Park or "Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Buffet" at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. No matter which one you choose you’ll enjoy a tasty meal along with your favorite Disney Pals. Make dining reservations on the Disneyland Resort website or through the Disneyland Mobile App

My last suggestion to make his birthday extra special is to make sure to take plenty of pictures to commemorate your trip! You can purchase Disney PhotoPass+ One Day and take advantage of unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass photos. Those fun photos taken on attractions are always some of my favorites! Also, make sure to take advantage of the Disney PhotoPass Photographers! They are always willing to capture special images for you! For an extra special surprise, request a Magic Shot! You never know which character will make an appearance in your picture!

I know your grandson is going to have a wonderful 5th birthday at “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
