I'm planning to surprise my daughter who will be turning 8 in December, for her birthday. I've never been before, and am not really sure where to start with planning! We wont be staying in a Disney hotel. Anything special for birthdays?

    Hi Michelle!

We at the Disney Parks Mom's Panel absolutely love helping first time Walt Disney World visitors. I wish I could see the look on your daughter's face when you surprise her with such a magical gift! The best place to start is by creating a My Disney Experience account. From there you can purchase Park admission tickets, make Advanced Dining Reservations, schedule FastPass+ experiences and much more.

As far as your daughter's birthday goes, you will be happy to know that no one celebrates like Disney! Be sure to stop at Guest Services in any of the Parks and ask for a Birthday Celebration Button to let everyone know if is your daughter's special day. Take a look at the Customize Your Celebration page of the Walt Disney World website for ideas of how to make her eighth birthday a memory she will never forget.

Thanks for stopping by! Please come back for any other tips or advice about your Walt Disney World vacation. Happy planning!
