Disney Vacation Club resort you want to stay at is a big decision, and I'm here to offer my two cents to help you choose an ideal spot for your family vacation. The good news? You can't go wrong either way! So, let's chat about your options.
I'll start with
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. We stayed here with our little ones several times before we joined DVC and found it to be a great location with a fun tropical vibe that is really appealing for younger kids. You have several transportation options to get to and from Magic Kingdom Park (ideal if you like to take a midday break like we do!), and you're also just steps away from the Transportation & Ticket Center, where you can hop on the Monorail to EPCOT.
The Polynesian has a great volcano-themed pool, all sorts of fun recreation activities, and one of my favorite onsite Character meals. The Best Friends Breakfast at
'Ohana features Lilo & Stitch and a tasty all-you-care-to-enjoy menu. You'll also find
Pineapple Lanai located just outside the Great Ceremonial House - you can grab a DOLE Whip and find a prime spot to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks and the
Electrical Water Pageant in the evening!
Now on to
The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. I generally feel like the atmosphere is quieter and more relaxed here, which may be a better fit for your family, depending on what works best for you outside of the Disney bubble. The main pool at the Grand is also terrific, with a cute play area for little ones. You'll find recreation activities similar to the Polynesian, including campfires, outdoor movies, and other fun offerings. There is also a great Character meal here at
1900 Park Fare, offering a buffet breakfast or dinner with special appearances by some Disney pals that may include Tiana, Aladdin, Mirabel, and Cinderella!
Location-wise, this resort is hard to beat. There's a convenient walking path directly to the Magic Kingdom, which is a game-changer when you're trying to exit the park after the fireworks. There's also a path heading to the Polynesian, so whichever resort you select, you can still enjoy the dining experiences at the other!
Keishly, as I said earlier, this is a win-win situation - you're sure to have a magical vacation regardless of which of these two iconic resorts you choose. I recommend taking a look at the virtual room tours on the DVC website to see if the layout or design of the Poly or the Grand decides it for you. Search for a specific resort, and then select the "Rooms & Points" header to display a complete list of all of the accommodation types at that resort, with links to the tours.
