I’m planning to spend Christmas with my family on the Wish. My flight arrives in Houston on December 24th at noon, and from there, we’ll take a taxi to Galveston, likely arriving at 1 p.m. I believe we need to be on the ship by 3 p.m. What’s your opinion?

Ahoy there again, Daniel. Welcome back to planDisney!

How amazing you will be sailing on a Disney cruise during Christmas with your family! I believe you'll actually be onboard the Disney Magic, since the Disney Wish will be sailing out of Port Canaveral. Regardless of which Disney ship you and your family will be sailing on, you will all have a jolly time as you explore The Caribbean. This past holiday season, I sailed on a Disney cruise with my extended family and everyone had a wonderful time. It was definitely nice not having to cook and clean up after our holiday meal!

The travel time to Port of Galveston depends on which airport in Houston you will be flying into. Most Guests fly into George Bush International Airport (IAH), while other Guests fly into the smaller William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). Depending on traffic, it can take about 45 minutes to an hour from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) to Port of Galveston. Because George Bush International Airport (IAH) is farther away from the port, it can take 1.5 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions. If you're flying into William P. Hobby (HOU) and your flight is on time to land at noon, you might be fine heading to Galveston via taxi immediately after fetching any checked luggage from baggage claim. On the other hand, it will be a rush from George Bush International Airport (IAH) to Galveston, given the need to navigate a larger airport and longer travel time. Also, please be advised that air travel during winter months can be unpredictable due to bad weather; flights may be delayed or canceled. If possible, I highly recommend arriving the day before your sailing or at least arrive earlier than noon, especially if you will be arriving at George Bush International Airport (IAH) on Christmas Eve.

I hope you will have a great time on the exhilarating AquaDunk while you're on the Disney Magic! And please wave hello to Rapunzel for me when you dine at Rapunzel's Royal Table, one of the 3 rotational dining restaurants you'll be dining at.

Hope to SEA ya real soon,
