I'm planning a special 30th Birthday Disney World Vacation and it won't be for 2 more years but how can I start figuring out how to plan the best Disney World vacation for someone who has never been to Disney World?

Hey there Em and welcome to planDisney!

As we grow older it's so important to keep our inner child alive and well. The Most Magical Place on Earth is the perfect place to do just that as you celebrate your major milestone. Figuring out how to make it a spectacular trip just takes a little research. And I'm more than happy to help.

A few must-know tips to start your planning:

    1. You can book a room-only reservation at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel 499 days in advance by calling Disney Resort Hotel Reservations at 407-939-1936. If Disney Vacation Packages(hotel and Theme Park Tickets together) aren't released at that time, you can go ahead and book your hotel room and add Theme Park Tickets later.

    2. Advanced Dining Reservations and Enchanting Extras can currently be booked 60 days before your arrival.

    3. Currently you need a Theme Park Reservation via the Disney Park Pass System in addition to your Theme Park Ticket to enter any of the Disney Parks.

    4. You should definitely create a My Disney Experience account, download the corresponding app and familiarize yourself with it.

    5. There are some great blogs out there to follow, particularly Disney Parks Blog. They're a great resource to keep up to date with the latest happenings at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Now that takes care of some basic Mousekeeping. Now on to how to plan! Since you've given yourself so much time, I would start with researching where I want to stay. There are so many jewels in the Disney Resorts Collection for a variety of budgets and needs. With 2 years to save and a major birthday to celebrate, I'd strongly recommend considering a Disney Deluxe Resort. My personal favorite is Disney's Riviera Resort with its ritzy European vibes and its close proximity to EPCOT.  But to be sure, check out some of our planDisney Pocket Guides to get the inside scoop on some of the great offerings on the property. I also scoured the internet for room and resort tours at the various hotels to see which best worked for me.

Because you're celebrating a special occasion, consider living it up with some Enchanting Extras Collection offerings. There are Specialty Cruises, VIP Tours, Dessert Parties and so many other ways of, as our dear Walt would put it "plussing," your experience. I'm in talks with my family right now about adding a Specialty Fireworks Cruise to see Harmonious, the new nighttime spectacular at EPCOT, as we speak. Make your vacation exactly what you want it to be!

Pro-tip: Plan a simulated vacation via the Build Your Vacation tool on the Walt Disney World Website. Prices are subject to change but you can at least create a ballpark estimate of how much to save and be able to start right now. 2 years is more than enough time to create just what you want with some smart budgeting.

Em, I hope I've given you some tools to start planning. If you have any other questions, please come back for another chat!

    Happy planning!
