Hi, I'm planning on running in Princess 2019 half marathon. I need help on where to stay, my husband has difficulty in getting about due to hip surgeries. Which hotel resort is the best to stay close to where the race starts? Thank you.

    Hi Betty!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I just returned from the 2018 Princess Half Marathon and have yet to take off my tiara! It was so much fun and I'm already looking forward to next year. I love that your Prince is going to be there to watch his Princess. That makes the race even more magical!

The closest Walt Disney World Resorts to the race start/finish area (located in the Epcot parking lot) are the Epcot-area resorts. This includes Disney's Beach Club Resort, Yacht Club Resort, Boardwalk Inn and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. Please note that you cannot walk from any resort to the race start. There will be runDisney buses running to and from ALL of the Walt Disney World Resorts to get runners and spectators to all race weekend events. While most of the buses are not wheelchair compliant, there will be Cast Members stationed at each bus stop who can call for one when needed. Here is a link to more information about travel options for runDisney events.

It is possible to walk to the finish area once Epcot opens for the day by using the International Gateway entrance close to the Epcot Resorts. That is a very long walk though, so I would still recommend that he use the runDisney buses that will take him directly to the start/finish area in the Epcot parking lot.

Please note that all of this information is based on race events from previous years, so it is possible that runDisney will change the routes for next year. I doubt it, but still possible.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions as you prepare to run like a Princess!
