Greetings, Ana!
I am SO happy to welcome you to planDisney and I'm delighted to answer your magical question! The start of your "Happily Ever After" is an exciting occasion, and popping the question at the Disneyland Resort is sure to be a memorable event. I should know...it's where my husband proposed to me, too! Thanks for inviting me to be part of your planning!
It sounds like you already know that you want to propose to your one true love at
Sleeping Beauty Castle. Thanks to the new decorations for the Disney100 Celebration, your special spot now has beautiful fountains and shimmering banners! This can be a busy area of the parks, but it has a huge advantage for proposals:
Disney PhotoPass Photographers! I would suggest to your partner that you take a photo in front of the castle, but hang back a little bit and whisper a quick word or two to your photographer to clue them in. I'm very sure that if you let them know what's coming they will be happy to help capture the proposal! Don't be surprised if you get some cheers from fellow guests, too!
Once you get the magical "yes" that I know you will, what next? The first thing you'll need is a set of complimentary celebration buttons! You can get them at Guest Relations locations like City Hall, but Cast Members often have them at merchandise locations, too. I would check at the
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique since it will be close to your proposal spot, and you can ask to be "pixie dusted" at the same time! It's one of my favorite complimentary magical touches!
This is definitely the kind of Disney day where I would recommend having a great dining reservation, like
Blue Bayou or
Cafe Orleans. Reservations can be made 60 days in advance, they usually open at 3 AM PST but that can change. Even if you can't get a reservation, I would try to join the
Walk-Up List in the Disneyland Mobile App when you're in the park.
I totally recommend purchasing
Disney Genie+ for your special day because the purchase includes all your PhotoPass downloads (hello, engagement photos!) and you'll be able to use Lightning Lanes to keep your waits shorter! If you ride an attraction like Space Mountain don't forget to snap a picture of your ride photo so you can link it to your account, too!
It might be fun to grab a special souvenir to commemorate your magical day.
The Mad Hatter can personalize some magical headwear for you, or the charming
Cristal d'Orleans has beautiful personalized glassware to toast your happy occasion!
To end your day, I would make reservations for the
World of Color Dessert Party and hop over to Disney California Adventure! It's gorgeous!
Ana, the clock is about to strike midnight on my response...but please
send me a note here if you have more questions about proposing at the parks and I'll get back to you right away!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
