    I'm planning to pre-purchase the photo package before we sail. Ive read that they take pictures before dinner and with characters, but are there people around the ship taking pictures randomly? Or do I need to carry my camera with me all the time?

    Hey there, Alexis -

    There are definitely lots of photo opportunities on every Disney Cruise Line vacation. You'll never know who's walking around the deck or across the atrium -- and it's so much fun bumping into the Disney characters onboard. It's for that reason that I usually will just have my camera handy all the time on me. I'm really glad that the newer smart phone cameras take very nice pictures. It's slim enough to fit in my little purse that I carry.

    During scheduled character meet & greets, there will definitely be professional photographers around. Make sure to check the daily Personal Navigator to make sure you know venues of character meet and greets. You'll also find the professional photographers setting up Disney Cruise Line signature backgrounds in the evenings at the lobby atrium. Those are perfect times to get those family pictures or solo shots of the kids. 

    There are random photographers around the ship as well. At the main restaurants at dinner time, as well as on the deck. Castaway Cay has roving photographers around the island too. Everyone takes really sharp and fun pictures - we usually will take advantage of getting our photos taken whenever we get a chance. We've also been pleasantly surprised during port adventures. At the time the photos are printed, they'll even have the special Disney Cruise borders and stickers on them.
