I'm planning our meals and have the dining plan. I've made a few reservations. Have adults and girls covered for entertainment but what's the best place to eat for a 5 year old boy?

    Hi, Kelly!

I'll give you five suggestions, all of which appealed to my own boys (who are not far away from five themselves!).

1 - My all-time favorite? Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort. The five classic characters - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto - excellent food, and holy moly, a monorail runs right through the building every few minutes. What could be cooler?

2 - 'Ohana's for breakfast in the Polynesian Resort. What little guy can't relate, sometimes, to Stitch? And periodically the kids will be invited up to dance and parade around the room (a great way to burn off some of that energy).

3 - Play'n'Dine at Hollywood and Vine in Disney's Hollywood Studios. This buffet features characters from the Disney Junior lineup, including Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, and Leo and June from Little Einsteins. Kids are encouraged, about every 15 minutes, to get up and dance and play with their mealtime hosts and characters.

4 - Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. Family-style cowboy fare, thick milkshakes, and stick-horse racing around the restaurant. Need I say more?

5 - The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. A delicious buffet where kids are joined in parade fun by their favorites from the Hundred-Acre Wood: Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger!

None of these restaurants is "quiet", meaning that he won't be the only excited diner in the room. And every one of these places (except Chef Mickey's) encourages smaller patrons to get up and move around periodically, a big help to getting out some of that energy.

    Bon appetit!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
