I'm planning to go this month and I have a 5 year old and 7 year old. Is there any ride that is specifically 2 people only? Could the 2 kids ride together without adult?

    Hi there, Ruby!

Oo-de-lolly! This reminds me of times when I took my little ones for some Disneyland Days with Daddy. I can imagine the joy you'll feel together as you experience The Happiest Place on Earth!

Disneyland Resort rules state all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied in the theme parks by a Guest who is at least 14 years old. Children under seven years old must be accompanied by a Guest who is at least 14 years old to board an attraction. Your children are at just the right ages for you to enjoy visiting the Disneyland Resort as a party of three.

Sometimes, it may be best for you to sit with your five-year-old while the seven-year-old rides in their own row. That would be the case for attractions such as Chip 'n' Dale's GADGETcoaster, Jumpin' Jellyfish, and Goofy's Sky School. Many attractions may have enough room for all three of you on one row. Examples include The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Haunted Mansion. A special case of sitting together as a party of three might be Toy Story Midway Mania! That attraction is configured such that you would not be in direct eye contact with your seven-year-old during many periods of the ride. If that is a concern, you would be allowed to sit on one row and share the two available shooters between the three of you. Sometimes our smaller Mouseketeers appreciate a little bit of help with such interactive attractions. Depending on their preferences and personalities, that may be a good arrangement.

Some attractions may have particular size requirements or limitations. For example, to both see the road and reach the accelerator pedal, Autopia requires that solo drivers be at least 54" tall. If your older child has reached that height threshold already, they may be allowed to drive their own car! Otherwise, you will have the opportunity to share one car for all three of you. Many attractions allow for three riders on one bench. But depending on available space on the attraction benches, you may find it preferable to request two ride vehicles for your party. I would especially recommend that route for attractions that have interactive elements such as the "steering wheel" on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and the flight control stick on Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Astro Orbitor.

In all cases, be sure to carefully listen to the safety instructions from Cast Members. It's also helpful to be mindful of the various attraction height requirements. You can also use the filter option in the Disneyland mobile app to view attractions with specific height requirements. If you select both the "Any Height" filter and all of the other height filters that your children have met or surpassed, the resulting list of attractions will be the set you are all allowed to enjoy together.

Have a great time making magical memories with your children, Ruby. Please visit us at planDisney again if you have any more planning questions we can help with.

    See ya real soon!
