Hi Im planning a girls long weekend at disney world. we are staying at okw. ages 83,70, 60, 30 I need some ideas for a fun relaxing weekend. grandma has a motorized scooter.

    Hi Susan,

How wonderful, to be planning a long weekend trip to Walt Disney World! I have also stayed at Disney's Old Key West Resort with some of my girlfriends for a quick trip. I am happy to give you some thoughts on activities for a fun weekend.

First, since you mentioned relaxing, I think that Disney's Old Key West Resort is a great resort for some relaxation. The resort is lush and calm. Even though you are at Walt Disney World, this resort can feel like a getaway in the Florida Keys! Let me start with some thoughts for you right there at your resort. First, consider an afternoon at one of Disney's Old Key West Resort's pools. The feature pool, Sandcastle Pool, is located very near to the Hospitality House and other amenities at Disney's Old Key West Resort. We have found that if you find some chairs set back from the pool, it can be a very relaxing place to spend the afternoon. You could also choose to relax at one of the three quiet pools at Disney's Old Key West Resort. These are located throughout the resort and tend to be less busy than Sandcastle Pool.

Right there at Disney's Old Key West Resort, I definitely suggest having a meal at Olivia's Cafe. I think that it is a hidden gem of a restaurant! The food is home cooking with some Florida Keys inspiration. There is even a lovely large patio. If the weather is nice, dining outside can be so comforting!

I would also consider a trip to Disney Springs. There is so much to do at this shopping, dining, and nightlife district! To travel there from Disney's Old Key West, you can take a boat and ride along the Sassagoula River. The boats that run along the Sassagoula River are typically accessible for Electric Conveyance Vehicles. Simply ask the cast member at the boat to assist with your grandma's motorized scooter. The boat ride itself is lovely. Once at Disney Springs, depending on your group's preferences, you could shop, eat, or both! A dining location that I love for adults-only parties is Wine Bar George. They have loads of small plates that you can order for sharing. Their charcuterie and cheese boards are amazing, and for a bit of a show with your meal, be sure to get the saganaki cheese - they flame it tableside!

One experience that I had recently at Disney Springs was to see Drawn to Life presented by Cirque du Soleil and Disney. This show is absolutely amazing. There are acrobatic feats that are jaw-dropping. There is a Disney theme throughout that keeps you in the Disney mood. If your party enjoys a show, I highly suggest heading to this one!

I am so excited for you for this trip, Susan! I hope that these recommendations are helpful. Please do feel free to come back to planDisney if you have any further questions.
