Hello Cathy! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. It can be overwhelming planning a Walt Disney World vacation, but have no fear - we are here to help.
I suggest taking a look at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter, if something smaller is what you are looking for. It's in the moderate price family and I have really enjoyed staying here in the past. I tend to stay at moderate resorts because they are budget friendly but have more amenities than value resorts. If you mention Port Orleans in conversation to someone, undoubtedly it will come up that it is a smaller resort and it's easy to get around - that's one of the perks. The building and the grounds of the resort are down right charming. Your children are great ages to enjoy the swimming pool. My daughter, who is 8, could spend all day slipping down the sea serpent slide while I enjoy adult beverages from the Mardi Grogs pool bar. In addition to the Disney buses that can take you to and from the parks, at this resort there is also a water taxi that can take you to and from Downtown Disney which, of course, is complimentary to you. My daughter loves taking the Disney boats around, it's almost like an attraction outside of the parks to her.
It really sound to me like Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter could be a perfect fit for your family. But if not, feel free to come back and ask for more suggestions.
Happy planning!
