Im planning my first ever trip to Disneyland the first week of August!! Any tips for a first timer? I also want to capture my first time with one of your photographers. Do you offer any law enforcement/military discounts? I am correctional officer.

Hey howdy hey, Jeremy! You’ve got a friend in me at planDisney, so let’s get started!

There’s nothing more special than stepping foot on Main Street, U.S.A. for the first time, and I can’t wait for you to experience it in just a few more weeks! So, it looks like you already have your date set, which is the perfect first step. You’ll want to make sure you have your tickets purchased and theme-park reservations made for yourself and any other members of your group. As for discounts, I recommend checking out the Offers & Discounts page to see if any current promotions apply to you or your Disney crew.  I noticed a ticket discount for U.S. Military Members, which applies to “Eligible Service Members,” including members of the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Space Force, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service, and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Next, I recommend downloading the Disneyland app. This is the perfect tool to help you navigate your magical park days. If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to create a Disney account so that you can link your tickets to your app. You can also use the app to make dining reservations, check wait times, find Characters, mobile order food and drinks, and use the all-new Disney Genie+ services

Speaking of Genie+, I highly recommend adding it to your theme park tickets, if you haven’t already purchased it as part of your ticket transaction. Not only does Genie+ save precious time waiting in standby queues, but it also includes unlimited digital downloads of your Disney's PhotoPass Service pictures, which is essential for any first-time visitor! Don’t forget to check for PhotoPass opportunities at select attractions and Character Dining locations, too.

Last but not least, be sure to stop by City Hall (in Disneyland Park) or Chamber of Commerce (in Disney California Adventure Park) to pick up a “1st Visit!” button to commemorate this special day. Characters and Cast Members will love sending pixie dust your way during this epic visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!

    Wishing you magic,
    Kristin
