Hello, I'm planning a first ever family trip to WDW and I was wondering if the park accepts food stamps.

Hello, Tasha. Welcome to planDisney. Thanks for dropping by to chit-chat about your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation.

Planning a vacation to the most magical place on earth is so exciting, Tasha! You are going to make memories that will last a lifetime. To answer your question, no, the Walt Disney World Resort does not accept food stamps at this time. However, I have a few ideas for you when you visit.

Did you know you can bring outside food and beverages into the Walt Disney World Theme Parks? My family and I do this all of the time. We pack a small cooler backpack and fill it with sodas and snacks and it really does help save money! One thing I leave out of our backpack, however, is bottled water. You can get a cup of ice water for free at any quick-service dining location throughout the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and resort hotels. All you have to do is go up to the counter and ask for one and a friendly Cast Member will be more than happy to get it for you. Not packing bottled water really saves space in a backpack and makes it more manageable to carry around each day. It's not so heavy.

When packing a cooler bag of snacks and drinks, there are a few things to keep in mind. Walt Disney World Resort does not allow any glass containers in the theme parks. So when you are packing it's best to use reusable containers or zip-top bags. Also, there is nowhere to heat up outside food and beverages. When you are packing, bring items that can be enjoyed cold or at room temperature. Also, loose ice and dry ice are no longer permitted so to keep your food cold reusable gel packs are going to be the way to go. The last thing I wanted to mention is that no outside alcohol is permitted either. Other than those few things, you are able to bring in pretty much whatever you would like.

Right outside of the Walt Disney World property you can find many grocery stores and convenience stores where I am sure you would be able to use your food stamps to stock up on food for your trip. If you are driving yourself, they are very easy to get to with a GPS or you can always use a rideshare service if you don't have your vehicle with you. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, each room has a mini refrigerator that you can use to keep your grocery items cold during your trip. If you aren't staying on property, you can call your specific hotel and make sure they offer one in your room before you go and purchase your groceries for your trip.

I hope this helps give you a few ideas, Tasha. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out to me. I'm happy to help.

    Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
