I'm planning a Disney World vacation for my mom (mid-50s) and I (30) for July 2015. I love Disney and everything about it, but this will be her first trip since I was a child. What are some must-dos to make sure she can experience the magic like I do?

    Hi Christine,

What a great experience for you and your mom! My daughters love Disney as much as my husband and I and I just returned from a trip there with just my youngest.

First, does you mom know about this trip? If so, get her involved in the planning. Spend a day looking at the website and deciding your resort, FastPass+ options and meals. This is a great way to build up excitement.

If it is a surprise, think about your mom and what she likes. Would she like a fancy dinner looking at Magic Kingdom during the fireworks? Then book a dinner at the California Grill. Does she like to try new cuisines from around the world? Then book a meal at one of the countries in Epcot's World Showcase. Each country has fantastic authentic meals.

Does she like to learn about how the magic is made? Then there are great tours for you to do.

One advice I always give first timers is to go slow. Skip the park hopping in stay in each park at least a day. Find the time to stroll through the shops and see the shows. Linger at the resort or stay and have dessert. This is how you build the magic.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
