Hi! I'm planning our Disney World trip for 2015 with 7 people total... 6 adults and 1 child (age 4 at time of travel). I know the prices for 2015 wont be available until the summer of 2014 but when is the best time to book a vacation package?

    Hi Danielle,

I'm sending you a virtual high five because I'm also a long-term planner. Whenever I get stressed, I just open up my calendar and the mere sight of the word "Vacation" relaxes me.

I guess I should be honest...I don't block that time off in my calendar with the word "Vacation." Instead, I write a message that says, "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!"

(Since my boyhood dreams of becoming a Super Bowl MVP never panned out, shouting that phrase is the next best thing.)

That being said, my advice would be to book your vacation as soon as you're able to. That way, you can make sure you get the resort hotel and room type that you'd prefer. (Some room types are very popular and sell out during certain times of the year!).

If you're worried about whether a better deal will be available after you book your reservation, I've got you covered. If you hear of a special offer, just call the Walt Disney World Reservation Office at: (407) 939-1936 and ask if that offer can be applied to your existing reservation.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

While you're planning ahead, don't forget to plan your dining arrangements as well. When you get 180 days out from your arrival, start making your reservations so you can make sure you'll get into the restaurants of your choice.

(If you need help deciding which ones to visit, feel free to write back because I think of the food at Walt Disney World as being just as awesome as the theme parks and attractions!)

I hope that helps and I hope you have an amazing vacation!

    Best regards,
    Derek
