I'm planning a Disney trip in October. I know the after hours event at Magic Kingdom is usually scheduled then and that some park days are shortened. Are these the best times to visit the Magic Kingdom? What other days of the week are best to visit?

    Hello Dennis! Welcome to planDisney!

An October vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth sounds like it's going to be "practically perfect" as Mary Poppins would say!  Not only will you get to experience beautiful weather and rumored lower crowds, but you'll also be visiting during the heart of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, and most likely some type of fall special event such as the Disney After Hours Boo Bash!

Dennis, here's some not-so-secret insider information that will help you maximize your time in the Theme Parks... definitely plan on purchasing the Park Hopper Option Ticket when you purchase your Theme Park Tickets for your upcoming vacation!  With the Park Hopper Option, you won't have to worry about Magic Kingdom closing early to the public for an After-Hours event because you'll be able to "hop" to any of the other three Theme Parks anytime after 2 p.m.  My family and I NEVER visit without a Park Hopper Option ticket.  We love the flexibility of spending a morning in one Theme Park, heading back to our Disney Resorts Collection hotel for a nap and a swim in the heat of the afternoon, and then hopping to another Theme Park for dinner and fireworks at night.

Having the option to "hop" from Park to Park also allows you to be more flexible with your plans.  You can search for a last-minute in-Park dining reservation or purchase Individual Lightning Lanes for two separate Parks on the same day, making it possible to catch all of your favorite rides and attractions.

In my experience, crowds tend to be a little lighter in Magic Kingdom on days when there is an After-Hours event scheduled, just because Guests who have Standard Theme Park Tickets may choose to visit other Theme Parks like EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios on those days.  As for which days are best to visit, my personal view is ANY day at Walt Disney World is a great day to visit!   Just be sure to make your Theme Park Reservations as soon as you purchase your Theme Park Tickets and you'll be set to enjoy every day of your magical vacation!

    Happy planning!
