Hi, I’m planning a Disney cruise for my family, my boyfriend and I are considering a destination wedding. I know Disney has their own wedding packages but am I allowed to have my own ceremony on the beach without the package they included.

    Hi Marcy!

Oh my goodness, what an exciting chapter for you! A Disney Cruise Line vacation with your family sounds incredible, but planning to also add a wedding ceremony will certainly make it an amazing core memory for everyone. I had a destination wedding in the beautiful islands of the Caribbean (though not with Disney), and I know how precious this time is together as you begin your happily ever after surrounded by loved ones in a gorgeous location. I’m happy to share some ideas for your next phase of research and planning for this spectacular event.

As you know, Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons can put together a magical experience for you and your family at sea, on Disney’s private island Castaway Cay, or as a honeymoon. If you and your boyfriend wanted a wedding ceremony to be held onboard the Disney Cruise Line ship or on Disney Castaway Cay or Disney Lookout Cay at Castaway Point (opening next year), you must work with this official source for planning your special day together. To learn more, please visit Fairy Tale Weddings online or call (321) 939-4610.

You may certainly plan your own event at any other destination port, as Guests are welcome to enjoy activities on their own while in any port. Many of the itineraries stop at world renowned destinations with resorts that could manage your event, such as Atlantis Paradise Island while in Nassau in the Bahamas. Please be sure that you are weighing the risks of planning such a special milestone event where you are not fully in control of the circumstances, as Disney can miss any port or change plans mid-sail due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Similar to planning Port Adventures outside of Disney’s management, you assume the risk of any cancellation to the port and should mitigate any risks of returning late to the ship that day as you scope out the detailed schedule for your wedding day. There are many wonderful possibilities for your special day, and I hope this inspires you to think through what’s practically perfect for you and your boyfriend.

My planDisney cruise crewmates, Prince and Tracie each had stunning, unforgettable Disney weddings, Marcy! As you continue to dream about ideas for your magical day, please feel free to connect with them directly, or continue to send in great questions to our team. We’d love to help you make the most of both your amazing Disney cruise and your fabulous wedding day.

Congratulations on making all your dreams come true!

Wishing you the most magical happily ever after,
    Amy
