I’m planning a 14 day trip with my SIL. During the trip her youngest turns 10 & my oldest turns 3. Do we need to get them each a child & adult ticket or is it still acceptable to get a child ticket for her kid & no ticket for mine?

    Hey there, Baileigh!

Welcome to planDisney. We're thrilled you've come to us with your Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question! Oh boy - it sounds like you'll be celebrating a couple of birthdays during your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth. I can't think of a more exciting way to celebrate a special occasion than by visiting the Walt Disney World Resort! I'm happy to help you to understand the theme park ticket requirements that'll apply to your upcoming visit.

The littlest Mouseketeers (children under the age of 3) do not need theme park admission to enter the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, Baileigh. Guests between ages 3-9 require a "child" (ages 3-9) ticket and Guests aged 10+ require an "adult" (ages10+) ticket. You won't be asked for a child's birth certificate or proof of age, because theme park ticketing is based on the honor system, but each Guest must have the age-appropriate theme park ticket type for each day they visit a theme park. I encourage you to check out the Tickets & Visit Guide to help you decide what theme park ticket options and plans might be best for your party!

Baileigh, there's nothing like celebrating life's special milestones at the Walt Disney World Resort. During your visit, be sure to pick up complimentary celebration buttons for the birthday children from any Guest Relations location throughout the theme parks or Disney Resort hotels! If you choose to make dining reservations during your trip, make sure to notify the restaurant that you'll be celebrating birthdays, either by letting the Cast Member at the host stand know, or by completing Mobile Dine Check-In. Pixie dust is never guaranteed, but when I've notified the restaurant of special occasions in the past, sometimes my family members have received sweet surprises! Finally, consider ordering a Mickey Mouse celebration cake to go along with a birthday celebration meal. These cakes can be pre-ordered from select locations, and some restaurants have a limited number of cakes available for same-day requests.

I hope you've found these details helpful, Baileigh! I'm wishing you and your favorite Mouseketeers a magical and memorable Walt Disney World Resort vacation. If you have any additional planning questions, please feel free to stop back by planDisney again anytime. We're all ears!

    See ya real soon,

    Lauren
