Welcome aboard, Shirley! This fall, you'll be so thrilled to board the Disney Dream for the very first time to set sail on a magical cruise. Your two boys are at perfect ages to enjoy everything the Dream has to offer.
I bet you'll find your boys completely worn out each night from all the fun they've had in the Oceaneer's Club with new friends, and elsewhere on the ship as a family. You might find that they sleep better on the ship than they do at home after all the excitement and activity.
My daughter rolls around quite a bit in her sleep and the first time we sailed I was anxious about letting her sleep on the upper berth as well. But, once I got there and saw the secure, fairly high bed rail attached to the bed, I felt much better. Take a look at the bed rail in the stateroom photos, and see what you think.
Another option would be to call Disney Cruise Line and request one of the
Deluxe Family Staterooms (either Oceanview or verandah) that sleeps five, as those staterooms offer a single sofa bed and a wall pull-down bed in addition to the queen size bed. There is also an upper berth, but if you find it not suitable, you'd still have the other two bed options in the room for the boys. You would need to specifically request one of these, otherwise, with only four family members, you'd most likely be assigned a stateroom sleeping only four.
Another option, though pricey, would be a Concierge One Bedroom suite that has a double sofa bed and wall pull down bed in addition to the queen size bed in the bedroom.
I hope that information helps, Shirley! You've got so much to look forward to on the Dream. Have fun planning and please let me know how else I can help you!
