Hi! I’m plan for our first trip to Disney. Is there a discount for purchasing Magic Band + bands? And any such for making a first trip special for tweens?

Welcome to planDisney, Bridget! Congratulations on planning your first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! I’m glad you found planDisney! We’re happy to help with your questions!

If you booked a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package including a resort room and theme parks tickets, you should be able to access discounted MagicBand+ through your My Disney Experience app! When you open the app, tap the tile that states, "Resort Hotel." When the next page opens, scroll down to (and tap) the icon that states, "Choose MagicBands." You can then follow the prompts to find some of the discounted MagicBand+ bands!

There is something extra magical about visiting with “tweens.” My wife and I have two 18-year-olds, an almost 15-year-old, and many fond memories of our visits to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I highly recommend a visit to either Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park! We visited the water parks during the “tween years” and it was the highlight of the trip!

My tweens love competing, so be sure to check out Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Toy Story Mania! These attractions keep score as you compete against each other! Also, be sure to experience the thrills of the Disney Parks! Attractions such as Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, and Avatar: Flight of Passage are favorites with our teens! Also, if your tweens enjoy “gaming” consider climbing behind the controls of one of the fastest ships in the galaxy in Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run!

Bridget, you asked about making the visit extra special for your teens! How do sleeping in, staying up late, complimentary food, and lower wait times sound to your teens? If your teens enjoy all these things, then you might want to consider the special Disney After Hours events! These special ticketed events occur at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT! The event features lower crowds (which means reduced wait times for favorite attractions), snacks such as ice cream novelties, popcorn, and beverages (all included in your admission), and a late night of fun in the parks! As a perk, ticket holders for the event can enter the park a few hours before the official start time of the event!

Another special “extra” would be to visit Drawn to Life at Disney Springs! This Cirque du Soleil show brings together the magic of Disney animation and Imagineering with the physical strength of the human body! The art of Disney is brought to life in the most stunning performances!

Bridget, I hope these “tween” tips are helpful with your planning! Please feel free to send some more questions!

    Dreams do come true!
