I’m not staying at a Disney resort can I still purchase a magic band for my theme park tickets?

Hi There, Jamilet! Thanks for stopping by planDisney! I’m so glad to be able to help you today!

I bet you're growing more and more excited as you cross those days off your calendar and get closer to the day that you'll take off for your Walt Disney Resort Vacation! Isn't it so exciting to know that you'll be visiting during The World's Most Magical Celebration? Be sure to keep an eye out for the golden sculptures of your favorite Characters located all around the parks as a part of the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection. Then, for a fun little game as you walk around, have your group keep track and see who can be the first to stop all 50 characters! The winner gets a Mickey Pretzel!

Jamilet, not only do MagicBands make enjoying your day at Walt Disney World as easy as can be, but they are also such a fun way to express your personal style! I may have a LITTLE bit of a MagicBand addiction, but I love to purchase a new one to add to my collection ahead of each visit, so I have something new and exciting to wear around the parks. With that, I’m so happy to say that you can absolutely use a MagicBand and link it to your My Disney Experience account, even if you’re not staying as a Guest of a Disney Resorts Collection hotel.

To purchase your MagicBand, you’ll want to head over to shopDisney, and use the search functionality to search for “MagicBand.” From there, you will see all of the styles available for purchase. I’m personally loving the mint green Winnie the Pooh MagicBand. In fact, I just may need to buy it!

Once you have purchased your MagicBand and received it in the mail, you can get it linked to your My Disney Experience app. Simply log in, and head to the menu by clicking on the three horizontal stacked lines in the bottom right corner. Then, click on “My Profile” and “MagicBands & Cards.” From there, select “Link a MagicBand or Card.” Once this page is loaded, grab your new MagicBand and locate the 12-digit ID Number on the back of the band. Finally, enter the ID code into the app, hit submit, and follow the prompts to link the MagicBand to the appropriate member of your Friends and Family List. Then, just like that, you are all set! Ta-da!

Jamilet, I can't wait for your adventure to begin! I just know you will make memories that will last a lifetime! So please do revisit us with any other Walt Disney World vacation planning questions that may pop up! We are always here to help you make the absolute most of your vacation experience.

    Bye for now!
