Hello - i'm going on the 7 night western trip on Dec 30. I have two little kids 2.5 and 5 and they love the beach. Is it possible to get off the ship at Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Falmouth and just go to the beach for a couple of hours?

Welcome to planDisney, Fiona! I'm happy to see you sail our way with a question about your upcoming Disney Cruise. I can't wait for you to embark on your adventure!

It will surely be a lovely time aboard the Disney Fantasy with your travel crew. I fondly remember my first Disney Cruise onboard the Fantasy when my kids were three and five, similar to your little ones. While we visited different ports, we also sought out some beach time to relax and play in the sand. I did a quick search and noticed that there are beaches within a few miles of each of the ports you mentioned. It will be possible for you to disembark the ship and go and play at the beach for a few hours before returning on board.

I have a few suggestions for you on how to make your beach time successful. First, you can do some research from home about beaches near each cruise port. In preparation for my first cruise, I made a list of beach names to consider at the ports we were visiting. Second, speak with Crew Members at Guest Services. Many of them are experienced with the ports of call you will be visiting and will have recommendations on which beach to visit and how to get there. After all, they like to visit the beach too when they have time off when the ship is in port!

You'll need to be able to get back to the ship easily when your time at the beach is over, so it is important to be sure that if you take a taxi to a beach, a return taxi will be available too. Busy beaches will have return taxis ready and waiting for cruise passengers. It's a good idea to plan to have cash for your taxi fare as well as for any rentals you will use while at the beach. Many beaches will have opportunities to rent beach chairs, umbrellas, and more.

If you'd prefer to leave the planning logistics to Disney Cruise Line, check out the beach opportunities offered by Port Adventures. I spotted a Cozumel Beach Break Port Adventure that might be what you are searching for. You can speak with Crew Members on the ship at the Port Adventures Desk if you have additional questions.

I hope this information has helped point your compass toward memorable adventures on your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation! Have a wonderful time!

    Bon Voyage,

    Adrianna
