Hi! I'm new to running and signed up for the TOT Run in October 2014. This will be my first marathon EVER. What do you suggest I take with me on the run? Fanny pack? What do I pack in it?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Excellent question, Sarah! This race will undoubtably be warm and humid, so having a fuel belt that holds water will be a lifesaver. There will be several water stops along the course, but you don't want to build your hydration schedule solely on the course water stops. Also, a fuel belt with a pouch to house an energy gel, or some jelly beans is a good idea. You will definitely need to take in some calories while you run. The recommendation is 30 sugar calories for every two miles.

I also want to suggest looking at the
race specific training plans available on the runDisney website by Jeff Galloway, the official runDisney Training Consultant. These plans are a great way to stay on track with your training and ensure you complete the race successfully.

I know how excited you must be for your first runDisney race event! I think you'll find the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler the perfect introduction to an endurance event. I also understand completely the feelings you are experiencing in preparation for your very first race, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions you may have. I am here to help make your runDisney experience as magical as possible

    Happy Training!
