I'm a new member and I have points at Aulani that expire Sept. 2015. Can I use those points for a stay that starts the last week of sept 15, but end in October ?

    Hi S,

Let me be one of the first to say "Welcome home!" to Disney Vacation Club. Many years of magical vacation memories await you! I am glad that you are thinking ahead of ways to be sure that you use your Vacation Points before they expire. Unfortunately, the answer to your question is no. When using Vacation Points, they must be used before their date of expiration, so Vacation Points set to expire in September 2015 must be used by September 30, 2015, and cannot extend into October 2015. Do not despair, there are a couple of options for you! I spoke with a cast member at Disney Vacation Club Member Services who mentioned two options.

First, since you mentioned that you are a new member, I want to make sure that you are aware of the option to bank your points. If you are talking about points that you have not yet banked, you can bank them into the next Use Year. So if you are looking at points from your 2015 Use Year that were not previously banked, you can bank them into your 2016 Use Year. You can do this up to four months before the end of your Use Year, which for you would be April 30, 2015.

Second, If these points are already banked and are set to expire on September 30, 2015, I believe that you should still be able to deposit them into RCI to use for a future vacation through RCI. You should then be able to take a vacation through RCI within two years after to deposit of those points into RCI. This transaction of depositing the points into RCI must take place 45 days prior to the vacation points expiring, which would be mid-August 2015.

Whichever option you choose, I do suggest that you call Disney Vacation Club Member Services as soon as possible at 1-800-800-9800 to discuss your options. A cast member there can talk you through the specifics of the choices that you can make.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, S. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
