I’m going to MK on Oct 7 to avoid the Halloween party and staying at the Contemporary for Early Entry. What time should we arrive, when should we take a hotel break, and when should we return for the evening? I’ll be with my 2.6-year-old daughter.

Hi Jocelyn and welcome back to planDisney! I know you asked my fellow panelist Jonathan about recommendations for your October visit to the Magic Kingdom, but let’s talk through some additional recommendations on making the most of the visit with your daughter!

As Jonathan mentioned, you can enter the Magic Kingdom as early as 8:30 AM. I like falling in line at the entrance as early as 20 to 30 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry actually starts so you can walk on to several popular attractions at Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Peter Pan’s Flight is a great ride to go on since wait times for that can get pretty long throughout the day. Now Jocelyn, I know from personal experience that it can be difficult getting ready and out the door for Early Theme Park Entry so with a 2 year-old. I recommend doing a mobile order from Contempo Café to pick up some Mickey Waffles and a milk and take that breakfast on the go as you walk down the dedicated path from Contemporary Resort to the Magic Kingdom.

From the Hours & Events Calendar, I see that the Festival of Fantasy Parade starts at 2:00 PM and Happily Ever After fireworks show starts at 9:00 PM. I recommend watching the parade from Main Street just outside of Town Square Theater. From there, you’ll be able to beat the crowds as they exit Magic Kingdom to take your daughter back to the room for a nap!

Generally, I like coming back to the park after my daughters take their afternoon nap, sometime around 5:00 PM. By then, golden hour sets in and the temperatures start to cool down. As you’re walking back into the park, you may want to start another mobile order for dinner. My kiddos love the Mini Corn Dogs from Casey’s Corner.

Jocelyn, here are a couple bonus tips! I saw that you mentioned in a previous question that your daughter loves music. I highly recommend checking out Mickey’s Philharmagic! You’ll experience classic Disney songs in an immersive 3D show with my favorite Disney character, Donald Duck! Speaking of which, if your daughter loves the characters you may want to check out Dumbo the Flying Elephant between 9:00 and 10:00 AM, where you may see some of your favorite characters taking flight!

Jocelyn, I hope this information gives you some better insight into your October trip. I’m hoping you and your daughter have the most magical visit! If you have any further questions about your upcoming trip, do come back and visit us here at planDisney!

    Your pal,
