I'm a military spouse going to disney with some family for a week and then staying a second week with friends ( my husband will not be coming). I planned on purchasing 11 tickets. I was wondering if I would be able to get any of the tickets discount?

    Hi Nicole! Welcome to planDisney.

I'm a military spouse too, and my family loves to take advantage of the fantastic military discounts offered at the Walt Disney World Resort. There's no place I would rather go to relax, have fun with my loved ones, and make magical memories!

Let's talk about the logistics of using military-discounted tickets for your visit. I see you're planning a 2022 Walt Disney World vacation, and at this time, we don't have details about military-discounted theme park tickets. The 2021 Military Promotional Theme Park Tickets may be used through December 17, 2021; in past years, an announcement about military tickets for the following year has been made in early fall, so keep an eye on the Special Offers webpage and the Disney Parks Blog for those details.

I recommend looking at the Offer Details for the current military ticket discount. While there are no guarantees that there will be a military discount for theme park tickets for 2022, we have seen a similar offer for the past several years. This offer has usually allowed each military family to purchase, activate, and use up to 6 tickets per household; this total of 6 tickets is shared between the military member and their spouse. When visiting with your family, you would need to visit Guest Relations with the other 5 members of your party using the tickets so you can show your military ID to activate the tickets - you must be one of the people using a discounted ticket.

There are other military-discounted tickets available, but the Military Promotional Theme Park Tickets are the best value. I would suggest calling Shades of Green, the resort hotel for military members on Walt Disney World Property, to ask about other discounts that might be available for the remaining 5 people in your group. They have always been very helpful to me when asking about different options when I've traveled with a larger group or used my allotment for the year.

My most recent Walt Disney World Resort visit was with a group of 14 family members, and we had an amazing time together - and I know you will too. When discounts are released for 2022, be sure to look for the discount on select Disney Resorts Collection hotel rooms. A few years ago, my party of 9 stayed in a 2-bedroom villa at Disney's Old Key West Resort using the military discount, and it was so much fun. We loved having apartment-style accommodations right inside the magic, and it was great to hang out and watch TV together at night, sip coffee on our balcony in the morning, and enjoy downtime as a family when we weren't soaking up theme park fun.

Thank you for stopping by, and please come back with your questions as you plan your family vacation for 2022. It's always a pleasure to help a fellow military family with their Disney dreaming, and I'm sending pixie-dust that we get some great discounts for next year and that they're announced soon so you can get on with your planning!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
