I'm looking at traveling to Disney 8/2024- or 10/2024. Is it too early?

Hi Ronald! I’m glad you’re checking in with planDisney! You’re asking a great question!

As a huge fan of the Walt Disney World Resort, my honest answer to your question is that it’s NEVER too early to begin planning your vacation! With that being said, what it is too early for (at least as of now) is actually booking a vacation reservation with the Walt Disney World Resort. At the present time, Mickey and Minnie are not taking reservations for 2024 dates. I expect reservations for 2024 dates to open later this spring or in very early summer!

Don’t let that detail hold up your planning! Now is a great time to use the Walt Disney World Resort website to begin exploring the many options in the Disney Resorts Collection of hotels! I always recommend staying at a Disney Resort Hotel as you will be fully immersed in the magic! Also, the perks of staying at a Disney Resort Hotel include the Early Theme Park Entry benefit! This perk allows Guests of Disney Resort Hotels to enter any theme park, any day 30 minutes prior to official park opening! Additionally, Guests of deluxe Disney Resort Hotels have the benefit of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours! This amazing perk allows Guests of deluxe resort hotels to remain in select parks, on select nights, after the park has closed!

Ronald, by looking at your Disney Resort Hotel options now, you’ll be well-positioned to book your vacation package when reservations open! You’ve got plenty of time to continue your planning! I hope you’ll come back to planDisney with more questions for us! Also, I’m attaching a video for you to view! This video features my fellow planDisney panelist Elaine, and me, sharing great tips for first-time visitors (or for Guests who haven’t visited in a while)! I hope it’s helpful!

Also, Ronald, as a PRO TIP for you, I noticed that you are planning for an August or October visit! This is truly my favorite time of the year to visit! I encourage you to take a look at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! This special ticketed event takes place on select nights at Magic Kingdom Park from mid-August through Halloween night! This is my favorite of all the special events held at the Walt Disney World Resort!

    Happy Planning!
