Hi Lynne!
Port Orleans Resort has been my family's base resort for the last 3 years. Having stayed at the Riverside and the French Quarters, we find both very comfortable and relaxing. Staying at the Port Orleans allows guests to visit 2 pools with waterslide.
We have come to prefer the Alligator Bayou at Port Orleans Riverside Resort, because of its woods like feel and the pull down-bunk bed that features Louis the Alligator.
Coronado Spring Resort features a totally different theme, but room's space and amenities are basically the same as in the Port Orleans Resort. This resort also features La Vida Health Club and a great pool with waterslide.
Bus transportation at both resorts is very efficient, but you must allot around 1 hour for each connection - depends on season, time of day and chance.
Port Orleans Resort also offers boat transportation to and from Downtown Disney.
Using your own or a rented car will help make the most of your vacation time, allowing more time to sleep and visit the parks.
Taxis will also help you save precious time - these are ready to pick up guests at resorts, parks (except Magic Kingdom), Transportation & Ticket Center and Downtown Disney.
Disney moderate resorts feature counter service restaurants that offer meals accordingly to the resort theme.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort offer a totally different experience with more comforts and located in the campgrounds of Disney. This resort features many outdoor activities and different dining experiences.
Glad to help you plan a magical Disney vacation.
Hope to hear again from you.
Miguel
