Hi Gail,
Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I love what Winnie the Pooh says about getting around — "I always get to where I'm going by walking away from where I've been" — yet I do think it's helpful to know what's where when planning your Walt Disney World vacation.
You're right that the maps available online are digital versions of the 4-inch by 9-inch printed Guide Maps that unfold to 9-inch by 20-inch maps. I can see that shrinking these maps to print on standard paper would make the text rather tiny to read easily. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any maps available at DisneyWorld.com that are designed to print on standard 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch paper.
If you're looking to get familiar with what's where, know that the
My Disney Experience Mobile App features convenient maps and directions built into the app. So, for example, if you want to find your way to Be Our Guest Restaurant from Main Street U.S.A., you can quickly see a map with walking directions. DisneyWorld.com also features
interactive maps to help you explore all of Walt Disney World.
If you're really wanting a map you can print yourself, I do have a few quick tips to try. One trick is to set your printer page settings to a tabloid page size, print the map to a tabloid-size PDF file, and then print that map in page tiles. You can cut and tape the printed pages together. While that makes for an extra step, the text and graphics will be larger and more readable. Another suggestion is to use some screen capture software to take snapshots of the map portion and the attractions listings and then you can paste those snapshots into your favorite document app to print a readable map.
Gail, here's wishing you a magical stay!
Jerry
