Bright Suns, Toni!
You are counting down the DAYS until your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, and I’m so excited for you. You’ll be living your Star Wars adventure in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge before you know it!
I recently had a chance to visit Batuu and explore
Black Spire Outpost, and I truly loved being immersed in the Star Wars universe. I consider a visit to
Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers to be a “can’t miss” experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. From the moment you approach the scrap metal station (don’t let the First Order Stormtroopers discover your true mission), you will feel the Force flowing. (And, if you’re me, you might also have some tears flowing.)
At the end of the experience, you’ll receive a padded case to keep your lightsaber protected. The blade of the lightsaber is 31 inches long, and the hilts are approximately 4 or 5 inches (it varies depending on the hilt you choose). Part of the experience is having the Gatherers assist as you fuse the hilt and blade, though I have heard they can be separated to place in your checked luggage.
Toni, I spoke to the Gatherers about getting lightsabers back to a Guest’s home planet, and they had a few suggestions. If you don’t want to break your lightsaber down to fit into your luggage, or don’t have enough space, you do have the option of shipping your lightsaber to anywhere in the galaxy. If you don’t want to carry your lightsaber around Disney’s Hollywood Studios (remember, you don’t want those Stormtroopers spotting it and asking pesky questions), you do have the option of sending it to the front of the theme park for pick up as you exit, or shipping it to the gift shop at your Walt Disney World Resort hotel. The Gatherers can assist you with any of these
merchandise delivery options.
Toni, I’m raising a glass of blue milk (my favorite option from
Milk Stand) in a chEARs to your upcoming vacation. There’s so much to love about
autumn at the Walt Disney World Resort, and I hope your time on Batuu and beyond is filled with magic.
‘Til the Spire,
Robyn
