I'm looking for info re: fast passes, or whatever is the current version of such...

    Hi Stephen,

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney. I am happy to help you with your Walt Disney World trip planning question!

I believe that you are looking for information on Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightening Lanes. Both of these are available and can be used with the My Disney Experience Mobile App. Let me offer you some information on each of these services. You can also watch some quick and informative videos on Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightening Lanes.

With Disney Genie+ Service, you will be able to make Lightening Lane selections throughout your day at a Walt Disney World theme park. These Lightening Lanes will allow you to bypass the standby queue. Using Disney Genie+ Service, you will be able to use the My Disney Experience Mobile App to select one attraction at a time for which to make a Lightening Lane selection. Then, you will be able to make another Lightening Lane selection after you have used the initial one, or after two hours have elapsed since you made the first one.

Separate from Disney Genie+ Service, certain attractions are offered as Individual Lightening Lanes. For these attractions, you do not need to purchase Disney Genie+ Service. Instead, you purchase each Individual Lightening Lane separately.

There are lists of the attractions in each theme park that offer Lightening Lanes and Individual Lightening Lanes in the initial link that I provided. There are significantly fewer attractions that use Individual Lightening Lanes; in fact, it is currently only one attraction per theme park! You can use Disney Genie+ Service to select Lightening Lanes, or you can purchase Individual Lightening Lanes, or you can do both!

In order to take advantage of both Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightening Lanes, you will need to first be sure that you have theme park tickets for the day that you are planning to go to the theme park. Next, be sure that you have made a theme park reservation for the park that you are planning to attend. If you plan to purchase Disney Genie+ Service in order to select Lightening Lanes, I do suggest that you get up early to make the purchase of Disney Genie+ Service so that you are ready to use it to make your first Lightening Lane selection at 7:00 a.m. You can purchase Disney Genie+ Service as early as 12:01 a.m. on the morning of your theme park visit; however, I tend to be an early bird rather than a night owl, so I would much rather wake up early to make this purchase!

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, Shades of Green, or the Walt Disney World Swan or Dolphin Hotels, you can also purchase an Individual Lightening Lane at 7:00 a.m. on the day of your theme park visit. Guests staying at other locations can make this first Individual Lightening Lane purchase at theme park opening time. Disney has posted an answer to this frequently asked question about what time your first Lightening Lane selection and Individual Lightening Lane purchase can be made.

I realize that this is a lot of information, Stephen! I hope that it is helpful for you. Please do feel free to come back to planDisney if you have any further questions as you plan.
