Well, howdy there, partner! I am so glad to welcome you to planDisney, Alex. You are in for a rootin'-tootin' good time at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! Even with all the ghosts and ghouls, there's no need to be sheepish: this party is for everyone!
I was checking out the park dress guidance to share with you and noticed it had been updated since I last looked. There is even more information that may help you determine if Bo's hook might be permitted.
- Costumes may not contain props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
- Acceptable accessories include transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus.
I obviously can't see your costume, but I would guess your hook is blue plastic and does not resemble a weapon. I also assume it has blunt ends and no sharp points or edges that would easily hurt someone. Based on the image in my head, I think your accessory would fit the guidelines; however, it is ultimately the decision of the Cast Members at the party.
One of my favorite pieces of advice in the guidelines is use "good judgment." If you look at your accessory and wonder, "Can I get away with how dangerous it is?" or "It's not that much of a weapon, is it?" you might want to play it safe and leave it at home. If you are reading the guidelines and thinking, "It's not sharp, but I'm not sure what they mean by 'may accidentally strike another Guest,'" chances are you are being overly cautious. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate caution, but trust your judgment. If you are overthinking it in either direction, you may have your answer.
The caution I would offer is to make sure you have a storage strategy if you want to ride attractions at the party. If you are hooked on Space Mountain, my favorite coaster of all time gets even better at the Halloween party. The lights go off, the music amps up, and the thrills jump into hyperdrive. Coasters aside, the shepherd's hook might come in handy to carry the bags of candy home after all the Trick-or-Treat stops in
Magic Kingdom Park.
I hope your celebration with the grim, grinning ghosts and all the other characters roaming the park fills your heart to infinity and beyond! If you have any other questions, please mosey back by
planDisney. You have a friend in us!
Boo to You!
