I’m looking to do the Disney dining plan to do multiple character meals on our upcoming trip. Is it ALWAYS an option to get a kid friendly (plain) food option if our kids don’t like what’s on the set menu? (Eg. Cinderellas royal table, ohana)

    Hi there, Ricki!

It's great to see you back here at planDisney. Thanks for bringing us another great question about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation! I love every opportunity to chat about dining at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Ricki, I have a somewhat picky eater, myself, so I'd be happy to discuss the best dining options for the littler Mouseketeers in your club!

Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort have hundreds of dining options available to them. With so many restaurants to choose from, there's something to please everyone in your cast of characters! Ricki, my family loves dining with Disney Characters. In fact, Character Dining is a "must-do" for us on every vacation! In my experience, some dining locations have the ability to offer child-friendly menu items for pickier eaters. However, this is not guaranteed at all restaurants, Ricki. I encourage you to evaluate the menus for each dining location you're considering and decide whether the listed items would satisfy your little ones. Character Dining experiences are charged per person regardless of the amount of food consumed by even the smallest Guests on the reservation. For this reason, I highly recommend you choose dining locations with menu items that'll appeal to your children in order to maximize the value of these experiences.

Familiar breakfast options typically appeal to children - even those who are picky eaters. Ricki, my family recently enjoyed Breakfast à la Art at Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera. It was my favorite Character Dining experience we've ever had! We found the menu to be very accommodating for both picky and adventurous eaters. (My son raved about the Mickey Waffle Dippers for weeks afterward, while I still dream about the steak and eggs!) Garden Grill Restaurant at EPCOT is another one of my picky Mouseketeer's favorites, offering a delicious and bountiful breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Many of the farm-fresh menu options will likely appeal to everyone in your travel party.

Ricki, I hope you've found these recommendations helpful. If you'd like additional suggestions or have other questions, feel free to return to planDisney again soon! Alternatively, you're welcome to reach out to me directly with any follow-up questions. I'd be happy to help you plan a magical family vacation filled with many memorable meals!

    See ya real soon,

    Lauren
