Hello Brendan! Thanks so much for bringing us your ticket question. On behalf of all of us here at planDisney let me take this time to thank you for your service.
In order to make reservations for your park day, you must have your tickets purchased. This is because the reservation is tied to the ticket number. So if you wait until the day of to purchase your tickets, you won't be able to make a reservation until then and could risk the chance that the reservations for the day are full.
If you were wanting to purchase the tickets with your military ID for the
Disney Military Promotional Tickets these need to be purchased from your local participating military base ticket office. To qualify for these tickets you must be active duty or retired U.S. military. You can purchase up to 6 of these tickets during the promotional period. One of these tickets must be used by the military member or spouse. You will need your military ID to present to the Cast Member when you activate the tickets for the first use. These tickets not only are greatly discounted but also do not need to be used within 13 days as a standard ticket does.
If you are not active duty or retired, you still may be able to get slightly discounted standard tickets at participating military base ticket offices as well. I suggest looking up the base ticket office's website and usually, they will have a downloadable pdf of current tickets available and prices.
Once you have your tickets secured and linked to your Disneyland account, you will be able to make your theme park reservations. Then you can start planning the fun details! We are a military family that loves using the Disney Military Promotional Tickets for a last-minute trip to Disneyland Resort. We are lucky enough to live close enough that we can go up for a day when our schedules allow and
Disney Genie+ has been a great addition for those trips. Once you have scanned into the park you can purchase Disney Genie+ through the
Disneyland app for each ticket in your party and make Lightning Lane selections to enjoy your favorite attractions with shorter wait times throughout the day. This really helps us maximize our time in the parks and saves us more time for snack breaks!
Brendan, I hope this information about military ticket options is helpful. I hope you have a magical time experiencing the Disneyland Resort. We salute you!
Carrie
