I’m looking to book a trip to Disney with my kids for 2022, but I see that the Magical Express transportation option isn’t available after January 1, 2022. Is there another transportation option that will be available to and from the airport and resort?

Hi there, Bretny! I'm so glad you've dropped by planDisney to chat about your transportation to and from the airport to Walt Disney World!

Bretny, Disney's Magical Express service is being discontinued at the end of this year. At this time, there are no other complementary options being offered. What this means is that you'll need to arrange your own transportation from the Orlando airport to Walt Disney World and back again.

I do have a few ideas that might work for you and your traveling party, Bretny. The first would be to just use a ride-share service. This is what I actually do now and I find it pretty convenient and affordable. Both major companies service the area but I do like to check the fare on both because sometimes there is a deal or discount being offered. If you aren't as comfortable using a ride-share service, traditional taxis are always lined up ready and waiting. I just find them to be a bit more expensive than ride-share service prices. Another option is to hire a car ahead of time to be waiting for you when you arrive. A quick internet search will turn up a lot of companies who offer this in the area. Car choices can differ from a Towncar, SUV, passenger van and if you are fancy, even a limousine! I've used a service like this before and it is nice because the driver will also typically help you with your luggage which is an added plus. Lastly, Mears is the company that Disney's Magical Express contracted out to. They have said that since they are no longer partnering with Disney for this service they are going to be offering their own transportation services back and forth. I am pretty sure this new offering is called Mears Connect and they will be starting the service at the first of the year.

I hope this helps give you some ideas on how to get to Walt Disney World to start your magical vacation, Bretny. If you have any other questions while you plan your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help.

    Have fun and happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
