I'm looking to book a Disney vacation but cannot find a DVC reservation can I get a standers hotel at Disney to use on my points?

    Hiya, Dave!

Welcome to planDisney.  Don't you just love the flexibility of your Disney Vacation Club Membership?  Whether you choose to relax in a Deluxe Villa, set sail on the high seas, or even blast off to a faraway galaxy, your Vacation Points can help you create endless possibilities for adventure.  I know it can be frustrating when you're searching for a Disney Vacation Club reservation and there's no availability, but I've got some good news –– you can use your Points for Disney Stays at hotels around the world with a Disney Collection exchange.

With the newly re-designed Disney Collection, it's easier than ever for Members to exchange Vacation Points to use at non-DVC hotels from the Disney Resorts Collection.  You can find these destinations, along with Points Charts, on the Disney Vacation Club website –– simply hover over the "Destinations" tab and select "Disney Resorts Near & Far" from the drop-down menu for a full list of available options.  Once you've had a chance to browse, you can call Member Services at (800) 800-9800 to check availability and begin the booking process.

Since booking a Disney Collection exchange is a little different than booking a normal DVC reservation, let me share a few details with you about the process.  When you confirm your exchange reservation, you'll be charged a non-refundable $95 transaction fee at the time of booking.  Most reservations will also fall under the Rule of Four, which means that they can't be booked during the last four months of your Use Year if your stay will occur during the same year (however, you can book during the last four months if you'll be staying during your upcoming Use Year).  Most importantly, know that once you convert your Vacation Points for the exchange, they can no longer be used to book reservations at a Disney Vacation Club Resort.  Should you need to cancel your trip, those Points can only be used to book another Disney Collection exchange.

Thanks for stopping by planDisney, Dave –– I hope this helped to answer your question.  No matter which Resort you choose, I'm wishing you tons of magical Membership adventures during your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
