Hi Douglas,
Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel, and Slàinte Mhath!
Break out your tartan Mickey Mouse Ear Hat! It's great to hear you'll be celebrating New Year's Eve at Walt Disney World. My family and I celebrated New Year's Eve at Magic Kingdom a few years ago and we enjoyed an amazingly fun and fantastic day.
While details for the special celebrations on New Year's Eve aren't published yet, you can check out
Disney Parks Blog to see some of the events offered last year.
Disney Parks Blog also provided tips in advance of last year's celebrations. My first suggestion, then, is to check out the Disney Parks Blog frequently for information as it becomes available, and that could be around November.
If you're planning to celebrate in one of the parks, then I think either Magic Kingdom or Epcot can each offer a really fun and memorable New Year's Eve for you. Both parks will present spectacularly special fireworks displays as the highlight of the night. Both parks will also attract lots of merrymakers. I'd venture to say that crowds will be as thick as a fog on a Scottish moor, only with lots more festive energy. In previous years, the fabulous Magic Kingdom fireworks lit up the sky both on New Year's Eve and the night before as well, so keep an eye on the online Park Hours calendar for schedules.
Douglas, I think deciding between the two will depend on what kind of celebratory vibe you'll best enjoy on New Year's Eve. Are you more of an Epcot Rose & Crown Pub kinda' guy, or more of a Magic Kingdom Central Plaza kinda' guy? Either way, Walt Disney World is a great place to start off your New Year.
Enjoy your Disney!
Jerry
