Hello! I'm interested in using a pre-paid Visa while dining at Disney. Can this type of card be loaded as my credit card on my Magic Bands for the convenience of food ordering and reservations? Thanks!

Hello Young Padawan! Thank you for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm eager to help teach you the ways of Walt Disney World Resort Dawn!

As a Disney Resort Hotel Guest, you may absolutely use a prepaid Visa to pay for your meals charged to your MagicBand while visiting the parks. You will however, still need to have a card on file linked to your reservation that has your name and is connected to your current address listed on your My Disney Experience account. What my fellow panelists Betsy and Tamela suggest, is to visit the front desk at your Disney Resort Hotel every few days prior to your check out date. You will do this so that you can pay down the balance on your account with your prepaid Visa. This will ensure that the card on file, for your room, will not be charged! Just make sure to use your prepaid Visa to pay down the balance before or on the evening prior to your check out date.

For dining reservations, you will need a card with your name to hold that reservation date and time. Hakuna Matata though, the card used to hold the reservation does not have to be the card you use to pay. This past April when my family ate at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, we used my debit card to hold the reservation. When it was time to pay, I actually used my Disney Rewards Redemption Card to pay for the meal!

May the Force be with You!

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
