I'm interested in entering my first race and am looking at the Royal Family 5K. I have an 8-yr old daughter. Do you think she's old enough to enjoy it? IWe're both Disney fanatics and visit 3-5 times/year. We're also both new runners. Thanks

    Hi Kristin!

Yay!  I'm so excited to hear this!  I was actually a huge Disney fanatic that wanted to run through Cinderella Castle "just one time" back in 2009, and now I am a Disney fanatic AND a runDisney fanatic!

I think you and your daughter will love this race.  It's a great first-time race that also has a lot of the "magic" that the longer races have. The course runs through a park and has lots of Disney entertainment along the way.

You should probably have her train some before the race so she is comfortable with the 3.1 mile distance.  It's not a timed race, but you are required to keep a 16 minute/mile pace, so that is really just a brisk walk.  Most kids her age have no trouble with it.

My boys love the runDisney 5K's and can't wait until they are old enough to do a half marathon!

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions:)
