Ahoy, Patrick! Welcome to planDisney, where we aim to answer all of your questions about sailing where magic meets the sea. Disney Cruise Line has so many different options that I know it can be overwhelming at times, so let me help point you in the direction of your perfect itinerary.
Disney Cruise Line uses a number of different departure ports around the globe with some offering cruises year-round and others just operating seasonally. The only departure port in California is San Diego, which is one of the seasonal departure ports that does not offer sailings during the summer months. Currently, the only two ships with sailings from San Diego are the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, which will both be sailing Alaskan itineraries from Vancouver, Canada, during the months of May to September. Unfortunately, since you are looking to set sail in the next six months, your options are extremely limited right now due to the seasonal operating schedule. However, there is still availability for a few Baja and Mexican Riviera itineraries in April, early May, or late September. If you choose to sail in September, then you even have the option of booking one of the Halloween on the High Seas sailings featuring extra spooky experiences onboard.
You can see the current availability by following these steps:
- Start by clicking on the “Plan a Cruise” tab at the top of the main website.
- Click on the white box labeled “Leaving” and choose your desired months.
- Click on the white box labeled “Departing from” and choose “San Diego, California.”
- Once you click on the blue “View Dates” button, then you will get a list of upcoming itineraries and can narrow them down by sailing date.
When I ran the search myself, there were only 15 sailings available over the next six months, but you can use the same steps to expand your search to other months as well if your sailing dates are flexible.
I hope you are able to find a sailing that fits your schedule and get to experience the magic of Disney Cruise Line very soon. If you have any other questions as you prepare to set sail, then feel free to reach back out to planDisney. Happy sailing!
